Synaesthesia
An article in the SMH Summer Spectrum a few weeks ago about synaesthesia made me think of what I used to have. Synaesthesia is when letters of the alphabet, days of the weeks, names, objects and other things have colourful meanings to you e.g. Monday is red, the letter B is green etc.
What I used to have was slightly different. Instead of colours, letters of the alphabet and other things would be a particular gender e.g. the letter "d" is a male, "m" is female, my calculator is female. Don't worry, I think I am normal now because I don't distinguish things by gender. I actually forgot I had this "condition" until I read the article.
That led me to thinking about other things. Whenever I read a book, 95% of the time when I want to flick back through the book to read something again, I would remember what side of the page its on. Like whether its on the left or right. Thats weird to me. Or maybe it isn't?

also wanted to add, I use to think odd numbers were "cool" while even numbers were "dorky." (although there were exceptions, eg. 10, while being even, was still really cool.)

hey!
didn't know that there was such a condition but yeah i used to think i was wierd cause i thought 'A' was the mother of the alphabet and 'a' was her little kid, 'B' was 'A's muse and some other funny things about the alphabet family. dun reli remember most of it now, but whilst reading what you wrote, I remembered my condition too, good to know I wasn't alone. :>
