Promo Chicks

Last Thursday I was working at Oktoberfest and somehow ended up on a Lynx party bus ducking power lines and branches with a bunch of bimbos!

This big double decker bus pulled up in front of uni at Anzac Pde and I was told to tell the driver where to drive to, look after the models and get people on the party bus. Okayyyy.... They were all dancing around in their half naked suits and chatting about hair, tan sprays, ways to work out etc. It wasn't hard trying to get people on the bus. All I had to do was say, "Free party bus filled with Lynx models" and it would get full in 2 minutes. It was quite a lot of fun on the bus - its a roofless double decker so we just danced around to the loud music and flashing disco lights as we drove around maroubra. The girls were pretty funny - they had a loud speaker so would shout random comments to people on the street and turned on the siren when we had to duck for branches. It's quite random so it's really funny watching the expressions on people who see the bus go past!

What I find funny is how guys get drawn to promo chicks who all wear the same outfits. Although I saw better looking girls dressed normally at Oktoberfest, once the Jim Beam girls came out with their white suits and cowboy hats, all the guys got horny and started swarming over them with their not so clever pick up lines. But if they were dressed in normal clothes, they wouldn't have had that much attention. I was once helping someone promote for something and was wearing the same T-shirt as the other promo girls with the logo on the tee. Let's say I got a lot more attention that night than I usually do at a club! But when I changed my top later, the attention died down straight away. How funny.

Although its cheap to get sales through skankily dressed promo chicks, promo chicks are an effective way for marketing. On Oktoberfest, if you wanted to get in a photo with the Lynx models, you had to get sprayed with Lynx. Most guys I've talked to really hate Lynx. Although Andy hates Lynx to death, he got sprayed from head to toe, however, he got to get touchy touchy with the promo girls. Afterwards he was in pain cuz he smelt so bad. They give you a card (sort of like "I'm giving you my number" business card) but its just a card to go on the net and enter all your details (for them to bombard you with promo material and get market research for free) before you can see you photo online. Same thing with the Jim Beam girls - "Why don't you buy 5 Jim Beams and come back and show me and I'll give you a sticker?" while flashing their tits.

However, being a Commerce student, I guess in the end it all works out. The Roundhouse made $90,000 in drink sales that night plus lots of people got free Jim Beam key chains.
