How Bazaar (haha)
Yesterday Para and I went to some 'Fashion Destination' evening at the MLC Centre which I rsvped to from Harper's Bazaar. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but thought might as well go anyways and Para likes going to these random events too. When we got there, we walked up a red carpet and then 6 photographers jumped out at us like the paparazzi and all these flashes went off. We were like okayyy....
When we were welcomed inside there were free drinks everywhere and lots of fashionably dressed up people. We walked in and there was a catwalk and a jazz band playing. It was quite strange because there were waitors serving canapes and cocktails although we were in a shopping area. So we would be holding a 42 below vodka cocktail in one hand and dipping breadsticks into dip on like the Gucci store counter. Was funny when a male model came on the catwalk cuz suddenly everyone was interested (nobody paid much attention to the girls). Both girls and guys started taking photos with their camera phone. As you can guess, all the guy were gay or just very very metrosexual looking. I am getting slightly better at distinguishing between gay and straight. Actually no I'm not.
Whenever I am with Para, we always get photographed because our combined looks represent multiculturalism I guess! He is dark skinned and was wearing funky clothes and I'm asian and was wearing bright colours. A photographer took our names and we'll be in the 9 to 5 magazine next week so look out for us in it! Would be funny if we end up in Harper's Bazaar.
It was a pleasant evening despite all the hoo hah. We didn't care though because we got free food, drinks, CDs and entertainment. Was funny how people turned around to look at us when we made comments like how boring the speaker was ("..because I was tall, I naturally became a model"), weird comments like "she's got a really long neck!" while the host would be emphasising the latest must have bag, and people giving us weird looks when Para told me that someone at the Post Office asked him how to attach a stamp to a letter etc.
