Funness!

Lots of fun, interesting nights lately...

Friday night was a very funny night because I took Monica (a white girl from the indie world stuck in an asian body who writes for her online magazine) and Jonathan (white boy journalist for the ABC) to an asian R&B party as they've never been and Mon wanted to write about it. Better yet- it was an asian R&B party with a school uniform theme! The novelty factor for them was high and they were so fascinated by the whole scene.

It was funny for me because of how they analysed it and they felt like they were travelling and had stepped out of Sydney. They were so foreign to this scene that their comments were almost grandma-like. 'I think they dance sexually here because China is such a sexually repressed country that they just release it all with R&B' etc although all the asians there have probably lived here their whole lives and have aussie accents. Monica even whipped out her tape recorder and interviewed people... the article can be found here (click on the article 'Yellow Fever').

Last night I went to Ruby Rabbit to hear Adam play. It was so much fun dancing with Bec because she knows how to make space for us on the dancefloor even when it's really crowded! Here's a pic of her giving the indie boy a dirty look for standing near us.

The weekend before I won tickets to the Death Cab for Cutie after party but Chris dropped out on me at the last minute! I panicked because it was 10pm on a Saturday night and everyone would've made plans by then. What I did was ring my best family friend, Adrian, where I was at his place before for dinner with some of his school friends and UK friends that I had just met. He asked whether anyone wanted to go to it with me and someone actually said yes! I had only met him that night but I didn't care- there was someone to go with me!

It was a little strange arranging with someone you hardly know to meet them at the station and go out clubbing with them. His name was Tim and he was pretty quiet. He went to Adrian's school. I asked him what his last name was and he said, "Butt" and I laughed so hard but I felt really mean because I hardly knew him. He was interesting though - a very quiet person but is actually a singer in a heavy rock band. Wouldn't have expected that!

So we went and jumped around to rock music and I bumped into some people that I've met before in the rock scene so we danced with them. Was heaps of fun jumping around... I'm really liking rock music at the moment. Yes it was a random night clubbing with an almost stranger but I've gone used to these sort of things happening since I've been single. You just have a 'what have I got to lose sort' of attitude and randomness comes hand in hand.

And before I finish off this post, I'll leave you with a pic from Naomi's farewell (she's going to France) and Michelle at her 21st where Chris and I did a speech!
