Favourite Drinks

Mmm... here are some of my favourite drinks:
* Chai tea @ 'South' Cafe in Newtown - It's served in a plunger and a little pot of honey so you can adjust the sugar levels (a lot of cafes serve it in powder form which consists of mainly sugar). It's $4 and tastes spicier than other chai teas you usually get. Comfortable, cosy atmosphere- great place for D&M conversations late at night.

* Coconuts chopped up by... me!! My new skill for this year is chopping coconuts. I feel tribal when chopping them up on the kitchen floor at home and it's very refreshing on a hot day! Coconuts are not the easiest things to chop up and you may often give up but it's worth it!

* Avocado Milkshake from any Indonesian restaurant - sounds really disgusting and the yellow-green colour may not look appealing but it's soooo delicious and creamy! One of my favourite drinks!!

* Frangelico and tonic - tastes like hazelnut! yum! Add a slice of lime to add that bit of flavour. Ask Michelle to make it for you at Middle Bar on Saturdays (she's left Home Bar)

* Heated up chocolate flavoured bubble tea with pearls from Easyway - very good in Winter and an instant sugar hit! I like having it whilst watching a movie in Winter as it warms your hands while you watch the movie.

* Any cocktail made by Jason @ Oscars in Pyrmont - you just tell him your mood, what sort of flavours/fruit you would like, whether you want to get drunk or not and he'll make a cocktail just for you! He's a fan of lychees. Haven't had a cocktail made by Terry yet but I'm sure he's good too!

* VB in a bottle - this was the first beer that I grew up on and I used to dislike it but when they say beer is an acquired taste- its really true!! The quality of VB varies but nothing beats drinking an ice cold VB in a bottle on a hot day... yummmm. I sound like an aussie bogan haha. But I'm not that bogan enough to drink it in a can.

* Hoegaarden- My favourite beer this year. Not something you drink to get drunk but a nice drink to just sit back and catch up with friends. I like catching up with Warren over a Hoegaarden and $6 steak at the Chelsea in Chatswood. Good mash potatoes they have there with the steak!

'Another' Launch Party

Last week I went to Ritchie and Pansy's store opening (called 'Another') at 13b Burton St, Darlinghurst and although I was only there for a little while, I had a really good time as it was unusual. It was a cross between those high school parties where people stood littered in the front yard and a funky store launch and a club (there was free grog and a DJ spinning decks on the cash register table lol).

The clothes looked great and there was great eye candy! (So many well dressed boys and girls but not the stuck up type but nice street wear type). I think the night went well for Ritchie and Pansy and they got a bit of PR for it too. I definitely recommend checking the store out (it's just off Oxford St).

Funktrust

If you have been following my blog, Redbull Adam DJed at my 21st party last year. He is now a resident DJ at Funktrust! Yay for Adam! Go check out DJ Miles the Playa (used to be DJ Mild Playa but Funktrust made him change) at Funktrust at Hunter Bar on Thursday nights.

I should put a plug in for Redbull Pete too (but I don't like the type of music his band plays... its good but not my type of music!). It's called
Venus Fly Trap .

It's the Little Things

I will try to keep this short as I'm at work but two different people said the same comment to me yesterday. They said that they love it how I find such joy in the little things in life ie. they find it funny how little things amuse me. Like I had a lot of fun eating my noodle soup yesterday because I have fun finding the last remaining noodles amongst all the "mess" in the soup and it's a reward when I find them because I get to eat it!!

Okay that sounds quite silly but I do find that it's important to take a step back and be grateful for everything you have because although there might be little shitty stuff (and sometimes big bad stuff) that happens in life, we really are very lucky. It's easy to get caught up on little problems and have them get you down and not appreciate all the good stuff you already have. Unfortunately a lot of the times, I only really appreciate something when I lose it or go without it for awhile.

Where am I getting at? Oh yes the little things. These are some of the little things that made me feel happy this week- a kid taking pics of herself with her mum's camera phone on the train, reading poems from Terry, choosing library books with Para, being out in the sun when I'm not meant to at work.... Yes call me simple but little things do make me happy!

Anneke's Mad Hatters Bday Party

I had a pretty good quiet weekend last weekend! Went to Anneke's party but didn't drink and the next day I went to Oscars to surprise Terry! Going to the Fishmarkets was great on Sunday too. Ended up chilling out at Oscars for a little while because I had a nose bleed and got blood on my jeans and needed to get rid of the blood on my jeans! Poor Terry always has to look after hopeless me!!!

I won't write again what I wrote in your farewell speech here but thanks for being the most fabulous, fun, and random friend ever! (Omg I think I've been hanging around too many gay people... I used the word fabulous!). I love you!!!

There's Chris inside a laundry, on a tiny toilet, I don't know what she's doing with the third pic, and us on her last day in Sydney.

Parklife 7

Parklife 7 has been one of the best Fuzzy events I've been to - nice crowd, great place, and good music! I remember saying to someone that wouldn't it be nice if the world was like this- lots of young happy people, random things such as people walking on stilts and playing handball, a nice lake to chill out at, and good music plus cool lights! Was disappointed that there weren't jumping castles though like at Field Day. My favourite acts of the day were Ugly Duckling, the Drumattic Twins, Roots Manuva, and Kid Kenobi & MC Shureshock.

I was a bit upset at first which I won't write about in my blog but amongst the thousands of people there, it was fate that I bumped into Terry (the bartender). We didn't really know each other because whenever I see him, he's always working but he looked a bit lost so I said I would look after him. I ended up spending the rest of Parklife and then afterwards with him and it was lucky I found him because he took all my blues away (also thanks to Baba who performed magic coin tricks to make me feel happier). It was actually him who ended up looking after me haha. One of the BEST EXPERIENCES was sitting on Chris.M's shoulders when Roots Manuva were playing. It was UNREAL!!! I looked around and all I saw was a sea of people all around me swaying, dancing, with their arms reached out and being above everyone else I could see them playing- it was so good!

But he's the sweetest guy and we've bonded a great friendship based on looking out for each other and improving each others lives. It's hard to believe but because of me Terry is waking up earlier, not taking stuff anymore, has halved the number of cigarettes he smokes, and plans to do more daytime stuff which I will introduce him to! He was planning to change someday anyways but with the help of a bit of nagging from me, he is going to turn away from what a lot of people in that industry spend time doing.

We talked about our past and our hopes and dreams under a beautiful clear sky on a rock overlooking a lake (not that we could see it- it was too dark!) and I felt so comfortable around Terry that I was able to talk to him when I nodded off to sleep! Don't remember what I was saying though... it was mixed up with my dreams. I then realised it was time to sleep so went to bed and had a good sleep.

I feel like life has taken another turning point and from experience, I've realised that the turning points for me are usually people rather than places or things that happen. I'm gonna slow down on the going out/partying, maybe that's because I'm sick right now or maybe it's because of Terry and we are going to do this together (we have great plans! First stop is the fishmarkets this sunday hahaha) or maybe it's because of church or maybe its because of the gay party I went to on Saturday with guys dressed in drag.
