Please don't fart on the dancefloor
What is really disgusting is when people fart on the dance floor. They think they can get away with it because there are so many other people around so we won't be able to pinpoint them. But dancing is sort of like exercise and you feel great dancing around but then its so gross when you suddenly smell someones fart. Likewise with smoking but I won't say much more on that because a lot of my friends smoke!
This happened last night at FBi 94.5FM's birthday party at Rebel Rebel. I'm not an indie chick but Monica has introduced and educated me on this scene and lately I've been listening to this music on radio and Myspace. And I loved it last night! It was fantastic.
First band was Young and Restless and they were psychotically awesome. The singer was such a capitivating performer, she seemed posessed with the music. I watched another band of what looked like high school girls combining saxaphone, drums, violin, keyboard and singing in such an unsual, emotional way. It was enchanting watching girls at that age so involved with such deep levels of emotion. Katrina and I just stood there, absorbed with the music, it was slow and gradual, toying with our emotions and although I was still, the music was taking my mind for a ride!
I guess what I like about this music is the intensity of emotion in some of the music and that dancing like you have an epileptic fit is considered cool. However, I probably looked like an outsider like I always do when I go to these sort of places as I'm not an indie chick. The 80s is back and last night, the place was overloaded with headbands, stockings, and 80s dresses. I don' t think I'll ever dress like that. And if I do, I'll probably look like a Japanese tourist or a schoolgirl.
Anyways, Chris is back and we've been to Bondi, Paddington, Glebe and Kirribilli markets together. People have been calling us market whores. We just like wandering around looking at things whilst our heads are in la la lands. On Friday, we went to City Gym (she works there) at like 11pm at night to get a tour of the gym and drink beer. I bumped into some friends and we went to YU.
I felt really scared after that... it has been about more than half a year since I've been there. But now it is littered with excited teens that try a little too hard and being nearly 23, I'm over all that. But I realised that it hasn't changed- its just always been like this. It is I who am growing older. I'm okay with young people but a lot just try too hard. And people my age have gone all homely at the moment, wrapped up in their cosy relationships or jobs and settling down. Luckily I have single friends like Chris, Monica and coupled up workmates who still like to have fun.
Btw ... I am planning to go to Jamaica in January! Imagine! Chilling on the beach listening to reggae with cool-looking people with dreadlocks! Ye man!
